The National Champion Michigan Wolverines have lost another key offensive player for next season, as wide receiver Roman Wilson has announced he’ll be headed to the NFL Draft
This isn’t a huge surprise, as the senior wideout accepted an invitation to the Senior Bowl, announced one day after Michigan’s National Championship win over the Washington Huskies.
Wilson was quarterback J.J. McCarthy’s primary target in 2023, leading the team with 48 receptions, 789 yards and 12 touchdowns. He finished his final year at Michigan being named the Wolverines’ Offensive Player of the Week six times.
A return was not out of the question for Wilson because he had an extra season of eligibility due to the COVID season of 2020. However, Wilson’s draft stock will probably never be higher, so he probably made the right decision.
Overall, he made 46 appearances in his Michigan career across four seasons amounting to 1,707 yards and 20 touchdowns. He’ll leave Ann Arbor as a national champion, three-time Big Ten champion, and a member of the 2023 second-team All-Big Ten team.

Wilson joins a slew of Wolverines to declare for the draft — quarterback J.J. McCarthy, running back Blake Corum, defensive tackle Kris Jenkins, edge Jaylen Harrell, edge Braiden McGregor, linebackers Junior Colson, linebacker Michael Barrett, cornerback Josh Wallace, and offensive linemen Zak Zinter, Trevor Keegan, Drake Nugent and LaDarius Henderson.
