Crystal Palace are now set to pull off a shock deal to sign Daniel Munoz from Genk.

That is according to The Sun.

So, what is the situation involving Crystal Palace and Daniel Munoz? Let’s take a look…

Crystal Palace pushing to sign Daniel Munoz

Well, this has come from nowhere.

Alan Nixon of The Sun claims that Crystal Palace are now “set to pull off” the “shock” £10m signing of Munoz from Genk as the transfer window begins to heat up for the Eagles.

The report states that the Colombia international is very keen on a move to the Premier League and will put pressure on Genk to make the deal happen.

Nixon adds that John Textor – who is reportedly looking to sell his 45% stake in Crystal Palace – actually wants to take Munoz to his Brazilian side Botafogo instead of Selhurst Park, with Palmeiras also keen.

However, it is said that Crystal Palace are expected to outbid the Brazilian duo.

Munoz sees his contract with Genk expire at the end of the season – although the Belgian outfit hold an option to extend his deal by a further 12 months.

Who is Daniel Munoz?

Well, if Nixon is right, Crystal Palace could be about to sign a very attacking right-back.

Munoz has impressively scored seven goals in 28 appearances so far this season – while also providing two assists.

That is a tremendous return for a right-back, to say the least.

To contextualise just how much of an upgrade Munoz would be in an attacking sense, his tally of seven goals this season is actually more than Joel Ward has scored in 351 appearances for Crystal Palace – the Englishman has netted six times in total.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as anything could happen before deadline day.
