Just a short time ago, Michigan was in the midst of a contested recruiting battle in an effort to land five-star defensive tackle Walter Nolen out of Powell (Tenn.) High School, who ultimately committed to Texas A&M. Now, after spending the last two seasons in College Station, Nolen is going to be back on the market via the transfer portal. He recently sent a statement to On3 explaining his situation. First off I wanna thank God for putting me in the position that I am in today.

It has been a good run over the past 2 years, a lot of ups and downs. Being here at Texas A&M has taught me a lot, on and off the field, but with that being said I will be entering my name into the transfer portal with 2 years of eligibility. My Recruitment is WIDE OPEN! He’s not even technically in the portal yet, but several outlets expect Nolen to once again consider the Wolverines. Now-former OSU quarterback Kyle McCord entered the transfer portal this week, and by doing so, he signaled surrender in Day’s competition against the One Who Got Away. Perhaps Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who vowed to “kill” Ohio State after feeling the Buckeyes lied to him during the same recruiting cycle that yielded McCord, has been fighting a one-sided skirmish these last few years. Ohio State never corroborated McCarthy’s story, and Day has never spoken an ill word about his archrival’s quarterback.
