Tom Cannon more than Sunderland?
Sunderland’s desire to find a striker throughout the summer has been widely publicized, especially in light of the departure of Ross Stewart. So it’s hard to say that Leicester need him more.
However, Kelechi Iheanacho and Patson Daka were linked with a number of clubs in the final weeks of the transfer window – although neither of them ultimately left.
Only four first-team strikers remain at work, but it is unclear if Daka will be in Maresca’s plans for the next few months as he has yet to play under the Italian while Iheanacho has already done so. Okay.
Cannon joins the two, along with veteran Jamie Vardy – a player clearly past his prime – in a bid to buy time. New hires will be even more important. He’s an investment not only in the present but also in the future, and Leicester did a great job going in at the last minute to admire the rest of the league.
