A Victorian rival has arisen as a trade suitor for a premiership-winning Demon

The Western Bulldogs have reportedly emerged as a target for ticket-winning demon James Harmes.
Although he is still under contract until the end of the 2024 season, Harmes has spoken of his desire to seek a fresh start this off-season after failing to see action in the Demons’ September appearances.
Previous reports have linked the hybrid half-forward with a move to Carlton, Essendon, Richmond or Sydney, but as AFL Media’s Callum Twomey pointed out on Saturday, dogs have also entered the race for Harmes.
While a move over Westgate could come as Twomey claimed Luke Beveridge’s side are looking to add depth to midfield, Harmes’ relationship with new Tigers coach Adem Yze could prove to be a factor over the next fortnight.
However, the Bulldogs and Demons have seen some fair trade in recent times, with former Dogs Josh Schache and Lachie Hunter on their way from the kennel to Gosch Paddock at the end of the 2022 transfer window. The Bombers cannot be overlooked after roster Adrian Dodoro and his team expressed interest in bringing Harmes to The Hangar last season.
Harmes has added 151 games in the red and blue Guernsey since making his AFL debut in round 15 of the 2015 season, but the 28-year-old has not played in the top flight since Melbourne’s round 21 win over the Kangaroos.
Currently, the Bulldogs are armed with picks 10, 17, 37, 66, 69 and 72 in the 2023 AFL draft to seal the deal.
