The Philadelphia 76ers are one of the best teams in the league in the 2023-24 NBA season, as they hold the third seed in the Eastern Conference with a 22-10 record.

A key reason behind the success of the 76ers this season has been the elite performance of Joel Embiid.

After winning the MVP last season, Embiid has seemingly gotten even better during the 2023-24 NBA season and looks all set to receive the honor once again.

Speaking of the 29-year-old, the 76ers superstar recenty made history in December 2023 after becoming the first player in NBA history to average more than 40.0 points per game while shooting more than 60% from the field, as revealed via StatMuse on Twitter.

To be precise, Embiid averaged 40.2 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game for the 76ers in the month of December.

He also shot an incredible 60.6% from the field and 42.3% from the three-point line.

Thanks to Embiid’s numbers, the 76ers had an 8-1 record in December 2023 and remained one of the best teams in the NBA.

However, the job is far from over for Embiid and the 76ers, as the ultimate goal for them is to lift the prestigious Larry O’Brien trophy in the summer of 2024.

Although the 76ers have managed to reach the Eastern Conference Semifinals five out of the last six postseasons, they have never reached the biggest stage to compete for an NBA Championship.

This could finally be Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers’ chance to bring an NBA title to the city for the first time since the 1982-1983 NBA season
