Jack Jenkins, a midfielder for Leeds United, has been loaned out to Scunthorpe United until January 2024, the team said in a formal statement.

The Whites stated that the 21-year-old heads to Glanford Park for the next few months and could make his debut as early as this weekend for his new club.

Jenkins has been named on the Leeds Premier League bench on nine occasions and his only senior appearance for Leeds came under Marcelo Bielsa in the FA Cup loss to Crawley Town.

Right move

Jenkins always seemed like he’s on the cusp of breaking into the first team but there was something lacking in his game.

It’s good that a loan move will give him first-team minutes regularly and he can perhaps gain some match sharpness at the senior level.

Had Leeds not had a plan in mind for him, they would’ve sold him permanently rather than loaning him out and then keeping tabs on how he fares there.

Jenkins joins a long list of players who have left the club this summer on loan as the last few months have been pretty eventful at Elland Road.

Diego Llorente, Robin Koch, Rasmus Kristensen, Marc Roca, Luis Sinisterra and Brenden Aaronson all left on loan.

Hopefully, in January, Jenkins will be an improved player and can contribute to the first team in some way.
