Demarai Grey has left Everton to join Al Ettifaq, the Steven Gerrard-coached Saudi Pro League team, for a reported £10 million.

Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum, and Moussa Dembele will all be teammates with Demarai Grey at Al Ettifaq; the winger departs just days after criticising Sean Dyche on social media; Everton manager responded by saying Grey “didn’t want to train” before moving to Saudi Pro League side.

A sell-on clause is also part of the agreement for Grey, who has not played for Everton this year.

Grey will play for Al Ettifaq with former Premier League stars Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum, and Moussa Dembele in addition to being coached by Gerrard.

Just a few days prior to his departure, the 27-year-old took aim at Everton manager Sean Dyche on Instagram, writing: “Everton fans have always been great with me but it’s so difficult to play for someone who don’t show you respect as a person.”

In response, Dyche stated that Grey “didn’t want to train” and “didn’t want to be here” in an interview with Everton’s website.

After joining the Toffees from Bayer Leverkusen for just over two years, the Jamaican international scored 12 goals in 75 outings across all competitions.

Everton stated in a brief statement—which omitted any kind words for their former striker—that they had “sold Demarai Grey to Al-Ettifaq on a permanent transfer for an undisclosed fee.”

The Blues decided to sell the 27-year-old forward to the Saudi Arabian club, and Grey now moves on. His two-year stay on Merseyside, where he had joined from Bayer Leverkusen in 2021, comes to an end with this.

“For Everton, Grey made 75 appearances and scored 12 goals. Prior to joining Leicester City in 2016, the Jamaican international began his career with his hometown club, Birmingham City.
