Rangers have had conversations with two strikers over a possible move to Ibrox in January, with the situation still in flux, according to The Fourth Official.

The Rangers news source shared via their Patreon on 4 January that it would be a safe bet that Philippe Clement will add another forward to his squad in the January transfer window.

With a loan deal for Wolves striker Fabio Silva already completed, the boss remains keen on bolstering his attacking options after the disappointment of summer signings Cyriel Dessers and Danilo.

Another striker is needed

If Rangers want to build upon their Viaplay Cup success and push on to win more silverware, including mounting a challenge to Celtic in the race for the league title, there is no doubt that a striker who can provide a consistent source of goals is needed.

With Dessers proving frustrating despite a glimpse of good form, it no longer looks like he has the trust of Clement or the club as the main number nine, and following the arrival of Fabio Silva, he could be pushed aside by another arrival.

Lawrence Shankland has been heavily touted for the move to Ibrox, and his 13 goals so far this season have him leading the league in the Golden Boot race, after scoring 24 in 37 games last season.

He is a proven source of goals in Scotland and one that you could expect to mould straight into Clement’s side with no period for adjustment, lending his eye for goal and proficiency up front to their title challenge.

With a new striker at the top of their January shopping list, it wouldn’t get much better for Rangers than Shankland.
