The Arizona Cardinals made the unexpected move to trade quarterback Joshua Dobbs to the Minnesota Vikings ahead of the NFL trade deadline on Halloween.

In retrospect, this shouldn’t have been a surprising trade due to the fact that Kyler Murray was coming back into the fold in Arizona, and the Vikings desperately needed to replace Kirk Cousins, who went down with a season-ending Achilles injury.

The Vikings were looking to salvage their season and make a run at the NFL playoffs, while the Cardinals wanted to get their star quarterback back up to speed once he was healthy enough to get back on the field.

However, Dobbs was told an entirely different story in Arizona ahead of the trade deadline, with the team expressing the desire to keep him on the squad even with Murray returning.

Dobbs quickly learned never to believe when anyone tells you that you won’t be traded in professional sports because things can change at a moment’s notice, which is exactly what happened, as he explained via JPA Football and was reacted to by Darius Slay of the Philadelphia Eagles, who knows how that goes in the NFL.

“Dirty game,” Slay tweeted in response to Dobbs’ admission.

Fortunately for Dobbs, he’s now in an ideal situation in Minnesota with the chance to lead that team into the postseason while making a name for himself.

Dobbs immediately led the Vikings to a win and will look to keep that going this week when Minnesota plays host to Derek Carr and the New Orleans Saints at U.S. Bank Stadium.
