Manchester United head coach Erik Ten Hag declined to commit when asked about the club’s decision regarding Mason Greenwood during a press conference on Friday afternoon.
The Dutchman spoke to the media ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest, and was asked about the club’s call to end Greenwood’s stay at Old Trafford.

However, Ten Hag said he just wants to focus on the players at his disposal as he looks to help the team recover from last weekend’s 0-2 loss to Tottenham Hotspur.

The head coach said: “Look, we’re not where we want to be with our team. I have a lot of work and I’m very focused on my team, so I’m focusing on the players I have.” to journalists.

“I only have to say about our performance, about our team, about the areas we need to improve because obviously we have to improve. I have to do everything for the team to function. good move.”

When asked about Greenwood later at the press conference, he said:
“I am focused on the current squad and the players available.

“Once again what Manchester United fans expect is a winning Manchester United and I take responsibility for that. I have to give my best and focus to help us play better than we are now.”

On Monday, the 20-time England champions announced that it had made the decision for Greenwood to leave the club this summer.

The 21-year-old’s contract has not yet been terminated, but the Red Devils are trying to find him a new club to continue his career.

In January 2022, following a woman’s complaint, Greenwood was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault, then again on suspicion of sexual assault and death threats.

The England player also faced charges of willful rape, control, coercion and assault causing bodily harm, but the charges were dropped in February.

Initially, United were said to have sought to bring Greenwood back into their squad before reversing the decision due to the backlash that ensued.

Several clubs are currently affiliated with the Red Devils academy product but it is believed he will not join the Saudi Pro League despite recent reports of a possible move to Saudi Arabia.
