David Seaman lauds Ange Postecoglou for maintaining his composure in the face of opposition rather than allowing his feelings to rule his actions.

With regard to his approach to managing his team’s personnel, his communication with the media, and his footballing style, Postecoglou appears to be the complete antithesis of Antonio Conte.

The Australian’s and his predecessor’s methods of operation on the sidelines represent yet another significant distinction. Throughout the entire 90 minutes, Conte could frequently be seen kicking and screaming at every ball while yelling instructions to his team.

Postecoglou, in contrast, keeps his composure even when Tottenham scores or concedes and rarely speaks, with the exception of when urging his players to play out from the back and praising their efforts in doing so.

On September 24, 2023, in London, England, Ange Postecoglou, manager of Tottenham Hotspur, watches as his team plays Arsenal FC.

At Tottenham, Postecoglou personifies composure.
Mikel Arteta, 58, is just the kind of calm character that Spurs need, according to those who noted how different he was from Postecoglu in the other dugout on Sunday.

On the Seaman Says podcast, the former Arsenal goalie stated, “I enjoy watching Ange on the touchline, he’s just brilliant to watch. It’s interesting to observe the contrast between him and Arteta on the sidelines.

“Mikel is leaping up and down like a Jack in the box, while Ange is just standing there gazing, hands in pockets. I admire what he’s doing with Tottenham, and who knows what they can do if he can make them more “Spursy.”

It would be utterly counterproductive for Ange to be yelling and screaming at his players and acting like a nervous wreck on the sidelines given that his key message to his players is to not panic and play without fear even when they make mistakes.
