The 2023/2024 season will see Everton trying to pick up their first points.

When Everton visits The King Power Stadium to play Leicester City on Sunday, they will be looking for their first victory of the 2023/2024 season.
Everton will try to bounce back against The Foxes after losing 2-1 to Melissa Phillips’ Brighton & Hove Albion on the opening day of the season. The Foxes defeated newly promoted Bristol City by a score of four.

Srensen acknowledged that his team’s performance last weekend was “slow to start,” but he also saw plenty of positives, applauding The Blue Girls’ second-half comeback in particular.

In an Everton press conference, Srensen remarked, “We were creating chances and we got ourselves back into the game.” “We thought we had everything under control from 15 to 75 minutes. Even though Brighton had just one shot on goal in the second half, it was disappointing that we weren’t able to at least earn a point.

The things we want to do and the way we want to play are quite apparent to us. Although there is always competition, we may make one or two changes to the starting lineup and have some players returning from injuries. We feel really at ease doing things the way we want to right now.

After joining the team in the summer, former AC Milan striker Martina Piemonte was one notable Evertonian. The Italian placed third for shooting during the Barclays Women’s Super League’s opening weekend with six shots on goal. This season, her teammates will try to pass a lot of balls to her in order to open up opportunities for her.

We brought her in because I anticipate her to have a significant role this season, Srensen added. She took a while to get going, like the rest of the team, but once she did, there were plenty of free kicks on her that we could have used more effectively. Obviously, the other players still need to get to know her because she is really strong.

When Everton travels to the East Midlands on Sunday, they will meet former manager Willie Kirk, but Srensen’s team is unfazed by this since he understands his team needs to work hard to earn points. Leicester City secured its league survival on the penultimate day under Kirk’s leadership.

“We played them (Leicester) in pre-season and once last season when he was in charge, so we know what to expect and that’s what we’ve been preparing for this week,” Srensen added. He is a wonderful coach and has done a good job at recruiting. Last year was a difficult one for them, but they managed to get through it because he made sure they were spared relegation.

“They’ll be thrilled because they’ve had a good start. We’re going to try to take them down once more there.

On Sunday at 3 p.m., Everton will play Leicester City in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
