Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Luka Vuskovic decided that he only wanted to join Tottenham Hotspur as he felt the current project at the North London club, spearheaded by Ange Postecoglou, is the ideal fit for him.

Although Vuskovic’s transfer to Spurs has not yet been formally announced, it has been widely speculated throughout the past week that it is only a matter of time.

The defender is anticipated to stay in the Croatian first division until he reaches 18 before coming to Hotspur Way in the summer of 2025, according to rumours, and Tottenham are expected to agree on a deal worth £12 million with Hajduk Split (Evening Standard).

The 16-year-old has reportedly been connected with teams like Chelsea, Liverpool, and Newcastle in the past (Daily Mail), and Calciomercato claimed a few days ago that the Lilywhites beat out opposition from Man City, PSG, and AC Milan to sign the young player.

Luka Vuskovic only wanted to join Tottenham

Romano has now revealed that Vuskovic had made up his mind to join Tottenham as soon as the Premier League side presented their project to the youngster

On the Here We Go podcast, the journalist stated: “First of all, I believe this is a significant move for Tottenham.

The end of January and the beginning of February saw Paris Saint-Germain in negotiations with Hajduk Split to sign Luka Vuskovic. “To see a player like Luka Vuskovic, coveted by many clubs around Europe, he was already wanted by many clubs.

“Then, at the end of February, beginning of March, Manchester City presented a proposal, an official bid to sign Luka Vuskovic, so two super clubs approached the player, and there was one more English club that I can’t say the name now, but I will say very soon.”

“The player only wanted to go to Tottenham, because they presented an important project for his development, so it’s not just about the money or the badge, it’s also about the project.

“He feels that, at Tottenham, with Ange Postecoglou as manager, with the new ideas of Daniel Levy after the Harry Kane story closed an era for Tottenham, to see that project was crucial for Luka Vuskovic.

“He decided to accept Tottenham. He told Hajduk not to negotiate with any other club, because he only wanted to go to Tottenham, and now the deal is done and we wait for the medical tests. From what I’m hearing it’s going to take place next week.

“Next week, very soon, Vuskovic will complete medical tests as a new Tottenham player and then I can share the details of the deal in terms of money, but it’s not going be a small fee, it’s going to be an important fee for a 16-year-old boy, so it’s not going to be £1m or £2m, it’s going to be way more than this.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I doubt Vuksovic would have been so keen on a switch to Spurs had Antonio Conte still been in charge. With Postecoglou at the helm, there is no doubt that we are a more attractive destination to up-and-coming youngsters as the Australian has demonstrated that he is more than willing to trust young talent.
