The struggle to bounce back now enters Week 2 of the 2018 season for the Dallas Cowboys.

The team’s cup runneth over with moves that were either outright questionable or exciting to ponder the potential of, with few landing in-between those two extremes. The world was promised a “Dak-friendly” offense and a return to offensive proficiency, driven by Ezekiel Elliott, an improved Dak Prescott and additions of players like Tavon Austin and Michael Gallup — the club’s third-round pick. What was put on film in the season opener against the Carolina Panthers was anything but though, with the defense doing all it could to carry a painfully inept offense.

It was one that could only move the chains twice in 11 attempts, and not once until under six minutes remained in the third quarter. Prescott was sacked six times amid continued offensive line issues and when the pocket was clean, his accuracy issues and decision-making left much to be desired. In the end, they’d lost 16-8 in a game they could’ve won if they had any semblance of offensive potency beyond the singular TD scored by Elliott, and hope to improve things asap for Week 2.

Staring them in the face is a known rival in the New York Giants, whose defense has given the Cowboys fits since Prescott entered the league in 2016. They’re also arguably improved, much like that of the Cowboys’ unit, which will make for a long offensive day for both teams — each facing the dreaded 0-2 start.

Let’s take a look at the depth chart going into Sept. 16, seeing if anything’s been stirred following the Week 1 debacle.
