Leicester have made a roaring start to their Championship season

According to Matty Fryatt, it will be difficult for the other teams vying for promotion to catch Leicester City this year.

In their attempt to return immediately to the Premier League, Leicester have had a fantastic start to their Championship campaign.

They are comfortably atop the Championship standings with 27 points after winning nine of their first ten league contests.

Fryatt underlined that it is a huge achievement that they already have a seven-point lead over the teams outside the top two, which are the automatic promotion slots.

He emphasized that even though it may still be early in the season, the teams outside of the top two already have a monumental task on their hands if they want to defeat Leicester this year.

Leicester now have some much-needed breathing room in their pursuit of automatic promotion to the Premier League, according to Fryatt.

On BBC Radio Leicester’s When You’re Smiling Podcast, the former Leicester player said: “It’s massive and you can play it down and say, “It’s early days and it’s only ten games in.”

“But you know that the teams below Leicester have to be flawless as well if Leicester were to make a mistake.

“They now have breathing room.

“It’s already a big ask that you have to lose three and the other teams have to win those.”

Leicester has matched Sheffield United’s 2005 record for the best ten-game start in the Championship.
