According to ESPN”s Adam Schefter, it”s highly likely that free-agent pass-rusher Frank Clark will sign with the Kansas City Chiefs after his release by the Denver Broncos on Friday morning. Clark”s stint with the Broncos was brief, as he only played in two games after signing a one-year, $7.5 million deal with them this offseason.

Prior to his time with the Broncos, Clark spent four seasons with the Chiefs from 2019 to 2022, contributing to two Super Bowl-winning teams. Throughout his career, he”s accumulated 265 tackles and earned three Pro Bowl selections. His 58.5 sacks rank him 20th among all active players.

It”s worth noting that he failed to record any sacks in his two appearances for Denver this year. Pro Football Focus has given Clark a grade of 45.7 for his short tenure with the Broncos, which, if it were a full season, would be the worst mark of his career.

Denver has been restructuring its roster after a challenging 1-5 start to the season, including a disappointing loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday Night Football. Another pass-rusher, Randy Gregory, was traded to the San Francisco 49ers on October 6 as the Broncos aim to replenish their draft capital following the Russell Wilson trade in 2022.

Should Clark return to the Kansas City Chiefs, he”ll reunite with familiar faces, including former teammate Chris Jones. Despite sitting out in Week 1 due to a contract dispute, Jones has recorded 5.5 sacks in five games. As a First-Team All-Pro defensive tackle, Jones often draws double teams, which could benefit Clark on the outside. Currently, the Chiefs are leading the AFC West with a 5-1 record. If Clark joins the Chiefs, he”ll likely make his debut on October 22 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
