Gary Lineker hails Leeds United loanee Jack Harrison

Gary Lineker was among the pundits hailing Jack Harrison after the Leeds United loanee put in a head-turning performance in his first Premier League start for Everton. The winger joined the Toffees in the summer, but has only just completed his recovery from a hip injury that he had when he arrived at Goodison Park.

Saturday saw the 26-year-old was named in the starting line-up for the clash against Bournemouth and duly chipped in with his first goal – a superb volley from outside the box after he saw Cherries goalkeeper Neto off his line. He also added an assist in a 3-0 win and caught the eye of the pundits on Match of the Day.

“Harrison, who’s come into the team from Leeds, what a finish,” said Danny Murphy. “What a great performance from him as well, really positive in his play.”

Host Gary Linker was also impressed. “Cracking finish it was too,” the former Toffees striker added. “A very important and impressive victory for Everton.”

Farke’s international break intentions as Leeds United to be put to work

Leeds United will be looking to address one of Daniel Farke’s biggest concerns over the international break. The Whites have a little under two weeks to go until their next Championship outing, which is a trip to face Farke’s former club Norwich City, who sit just two places below Leeds in the league table at present.

In the meantime, then, the German will have plenty of time on the training ground with his players as he looks to make the necessary improvements. Farke won’t be working with his full group with the likes of Joe Rodon, Ethan Ampadu, Liam Cooper, Archie Gray, Dan James and Glen Kamara all leaving camp to meet up with their respective national team squads.

But, there are enough senior players left behind at Thorp Arch for Farke to get some work done and he’ll be focused on trying to bring more of a clinical edge out of his side’s attack after seeing Leeds spurn chance after chance in their 2-1 win over Bristol City on Saturday. Of course, given the hectic nature of the Championship, the manager will also be using this week as an opportunity to give his squad a rest before dialling things up again as the trip to Carrow Road edges closer.

Here’s what he had to say.

Jordan brands Leeds United’s letter to prospective Everton owners ‘ridiculous’

Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan believes Leeds United, Burnley and Leicester City’s joint letter to prospective Everton buyers is ridiculous. The Whites, alongside the other two clubs, penned a letter to 777 partners to make them aware they plan on suing the Toffees for £300million if they’re found guilty of breaching Premier League spending rules to escape relegation.
