Gary Neville was not happy with the decision to send Curtis Jones off for Liverpool today.

The Reds were given their third red card of the Premier League season on Sunday, with Jones the latest to be given his marching orders.

“I know when you’re doing someone, he wasn’t there to do someone,” said the pundit. “He’s showing him the end motion [on the VAR screen], but that’s not how it’s ended up there.

That seems a bit harsh on the 22-year-old and commenting on Sky Sports, Gary Neville said the Liverpool player had no intention of doing so.

“His foot just slips over the top of the ball. Not for me a red card and it’s going to ruin the game.”

Liverpool saw red again

What’s going on with Liverpool this season? So far, since Jurgen Klopp arrived at the club, the Red Devils have hardly seen a single player sent off.

But after only 6.5 matches in the Premier League, 3 players received red cards.

Like the decision to bring on Alexis Mac Allister against Bournemouth, this is another questionable decision.

It was because of Jones’ ball, there’s no question about that. But there was no ill will from the academy graduate.

Rather, as Neville said, he won the ball and then skated past it. In slow motion it looks terrifying but watch it at full speed and you can see the true nature of the challenge.

With the Reds down, it wasn’t long before they were faced with another somewhat questionable decision from the officials. Luis Diaz fell into an offside position when blocking Mohamed Salah’s pass. But despite feeling extremely tight, the check was over in a few seconds. Weird.

From that point on, it seemed like things were really one-sided in the first half. As usual, Son Heung-Min appeared again to score against Liverpool. Luckily, Cody Gakpo reacted in stoppage time, let’s begin!
