Former Alabama center Seth McLaughlin will play his fifth and final season of college football at Ohio State. McLaughlin announced Saturday on Instagram that he is transferring to the Buckeyes after he made a visit to Columbus this week. He entered the NCAA transfer portal Wednesday.

A former three-star recruit from Georgia, McLaughlin became a starter for Alabama late in the 2021 season and held that job the past two seasons. His snapping was inconsistent this season, including multiple bad snaps in Monday’s Rose Bowl loss to Michigan.

“He was snapping the ball early sometimes and when we weren’t ready sometimes,” Nick Saban said Thursday on the Pat McAfee Show. “That’s a huge issue for our quarterback.”

Who replaces McLaughlin at center next season for the Tide is unclear. One of the top candidates was Terrence Ferguson, but he also entered the transfer portal this week and visited Florida State this week. Alabama’s only returning center with playing experience is James Brockermeyer, who has played in five games over the past three seasons.

Bountiful (Utah) high school four-star safety Faletau Satuala is a class of 2024 recruit, who will pick one of BYU, Utah and UCLA in the second quarter. Hoschton (Ga.) Mill Creek class of 2024 four-star safety Trajen Greco is set to announce. He’ll choose one of Missouri, Georgia Tech and USC in the second quarter.
