Brennan Johnson hopes to make a timely recovery from injury for Tottenham, returning for the first game since the international break with a hamstring injury.
Johnson limped off against Arsenal two weeks ago, missed Saturday’s win over Liverpool and was not called up for Wales.
The £47.5m signing will miss Saturday’s trip to Luton but aims to return to Fulham on October 23.
His return would be a big boost for Spurs, who fear they will be without Manor Solomon for at least a few months following his knee injury in training. Spurs are also without injured wide players Ivan Perisic and Bryan Gili, as well as Rodrigo Bentancur, Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon.
Johnson looked good in his first outing for Spurs against Arsenal and will add to their attacking options ahead of the crucial series after the international break. After hosting Fulham, Spurs play Crystal Palace before a huge game against Chelsea at 6pm. in November, when Mauricio Pochettino returns to the team for the first time as opposition leader. They then play Wolves before another international break in November.
Johnson will miss Wales’ Euro 2024 qualifiers against Croatia and Armenia.
