Marquez’s openness about his physical struggles demonstrates his will to overcome setbacks and regain his best form in the MotoGP. He acknowledges that his physical state allowed him to plan for a long run during testing, demonstrating his confidence in his fitness, but he is realistic about his current competitive position, attributing it more to his arm than to the continuous adaptation to the Ducati Desmosedici, as our partner Corsedimoto has pointed out.Although he is still adjusting to the Desmosedici, Marquez, alongside his brother and teammate Alex, remains realistic about his short-term performance, aiming for fifth or sixth place at best. His primary focus is on regaining fitness and adapting to his new team and motorcycle while managing the challenges posed by his arm.

Marquez’s performance on the last day of testing at Losail, along with a subsequent collision, sparked questions about the constraints placed on his arm. The Gresini Ducati racer acknowledges that his preparation and riding style are affected because the operated arm requires more care than the other.

Marquez had contemplated retirement in 2022, but after his fourth surgery in the US, he had optimism again. After several mishaps and unsatisfactory outcomes during his time with Honda, he decided to transfer to Ducati in order to start again. Marquez is open about the extra attention his arm needs.
