It has long been awaited but finally, it seems Finlay Gorman has left Leeds United and completed a move to Premier League champions Manchester City – and the teen star has posted on Instagram.

Gorman, 15, has joined Pep Guardiola’s side after a wonderful start to 2023-24. His incredible form for Leeds’ U16 and U18 sides caught the eye of Man City, with teen Gorman seen shining on social media.

Already playing five times for the U18 side in the Premier League, he has had a hand in three goals and City have decided to move. Tottenham and Liverpool had also shown interest – but City have paid £5m.

Last month, Gorman took to Instagram to post a touching message to Leeds and the club’s staff after leaving his boyhood club for City. A move he feels he simply could not turn down, a huge opportunity.

Now, the England U16 star has declared himself “delighted” accompanied by photos of him signing a contract in Manchester City colours, in his latest activity on Instagram. Gorman, then, officially at City.

It sees Gorman leave Leeds after months of reports that he was set to go. What it also sees, is Leeds lose a talented teenager – but a big cash injection that may see Leeds reinvest in the coming weeks.

While Gorman is a huge talent, he was still some way away from reaching the first team. City have the cash and the pathway to help him maximise his potential. So, potentially, this move suits all parties.

Leeds, meanwhile, secured their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday – with a 3-0 win over Peterborough United. Ethan Ampadu scored an unlikely brace, Patrick Bamford netting the other.
