The Green Bay Packers return to action after having their bye week last week. They will travel to Denver for a battle against the Broncos. Both teams are reeling right now. Denver is one of the worst teams in the league and Green Bay is coming off an embarrassing offensive performance against the Las Vegas Raiders last week on Monday Night Football.

One of these teams will get a win they need badly. The other one will likely be looking ahead to the 2024 season. Currently, the Packers are one point favorites so this is essentially a toss up. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:25. Here is a preview of tomorrow’s game.

The Green Bay Packers Need Aaron Jones Back Bad

Assuming a late setback, it sounds like the Green Bay Packers will have running back Aaron Jones for this game. Jones has proven to be the best offensive player on this roster. When he is on the field, he should be getting the ball most of the time. Unfortunately, Matt LaFleur tends to get away from giving Jones touches for some unknown reason.
We like to use the term “gut-check” for teams that need to bounce back and prove themselves again. This is a gut-check game for Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur. There’s no sugarcoating it: I think despite a young offensive team, LaFleur has done a pretty poor job calling plays and putting his quarterback in a position to succeed outside of the second half of the Bears game. The Packers continue to play terrible in the first half and part of that is on LaFleur.

It’t not all on him though. Rookie receivers are making mistakes and the offensive line outside of Elgton Jenkins and Zach Tom have under-performed all season. At the end of the day, LaFleur needed the bye week just as much as the players did. It will be interesting to see if the Green Bay Packers offense is aggressive out of the gate tomorrow.

Green Bay Packers linebacker Rashan Gary (52) celebrates his sack of New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr during the third quarter of their game Sunday, September 24, 2023 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis. The Green Bay Packers beat the New Orleans Saints 18-17. Carr was injured on the play and did not return.

There’s no sugarcoating this: Denver has by far of the worst offenses in the league. They are horrible against the run and they are giving up 33 points a game. Their offense is only scoring 21 points a game too. The defense has allowed 14 touchdowns through the air and eight on the ground. The Packers should be able to put up a good chunk of points tomorrow.

This had to have been a tough bye week for this Packers team. Now that they play 12 games in a row without time off, who does this team lean on as a leader? 12 games is a really long stretch of games. When you have the youngest team in the NFL, who can you rely on as a leader?

The one point favorite tells me Vegas doesn’t really believe the Packers can go on the road and beat a bad Denver team. Until they can put together a four quarter game, I think Green Bay lets Denver in this game longer than they should.

I also think having Aaron Jones will take pressure off of Jordan Love. Jones is a do it all back and I believe he will want the ball as much as he wants.

That being said, regardless of the opponent, it’s hard to win in the NFL and it’s even harder to win on the road. This will be a closer game than most might think.

The defense looks to be in a better spot over the last few weeks and I thought they played well enough two weeks ago. I think this unit will get pressure on Russell Wilson and force him into a few turnovers.

I don’t expect this game to be pretty, but I think the Green Bay Packers sneak one out tomorrow and improve their record to 3-3.
