The Green Bay Packers are dealing with a couple of injuries in the secondary. One of the big ones is Darnell Savage who recently went on IR. The NFL is a next-man-up lead and Jonathan Owens is excited for his opportunity to show what he can do.

Green Bay Packers Jonathan Owens Gets His Chance

Owens will likely be the starting safety for the next four games. He isn’t a stranger to being a starter as he started all 17 games for the Houston Texans last season. In training camp, he was beaten out by Rudy Ford (who has been playing great) but now he gets an opportunity to show what he can do. “Someone has to step up,” Owens said. “That’s pretty much what the NFL is. The next man has to come in and perform as a starter does. Just ready for the opportunity.” He has an important assignment ahead of him as the Vikings passing attack is one of the best in the league.

Injuries Have Been Piling Up

It has been a dark week for Green Bay Packers fans. There are many questions surrounding this team but the injuries have been a huge problem. Eric Stokes is back on the IR after sustaining a hamstring injury. Jaire Alexander has a back problem and De’Vondre Campbell hasn’t seen the field since week 1. That is just the defense. Aaron Jones, Christian Watson, and many offensive linemen have missed games. It is very hard to evaluate the team when it is a revolving door on the field. Hopefully, the team can get healthy for the second half of the season and string together some wins.

The Green Bay Packers are hoping that Jonathan Owens makes the most of his opportunity. The Vikings come to Lambeau on a little bit of a hot streak and are eager to take down their division rival.
