The Green Bay Packers have started the year off 2-4 and fans are getting pretty restless.  Over the last three decades Packers fans have been used to a winning football team most Sundays.  Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers had legendary runs with the organization.

Now, with Jordan Love’s first year under center starting off sub-optimal, some analysts are already linking the Packers to a trade involving a quarterback.

Green Bay Packers Fans Linked To Tennessee Titans Quarterback Ryan Tannehill Prior To The NFL’s Trade Deadline

A Bleacher Report article suggested that the Packers could lure Tannehill to Green Bay during the 2024 Free Agency period:

Green Bay has a good amount of talent offensively, but the erratic play of Jordan Love is holding them back—including six interceptions in the team’s past three games heading into this past weekend.

So, if they want to ensure they can remain competitive in the playoff hunt next season, they should take a page out of the 2019 Titans’ playbook and bring on Tannehill as a backup/potential second starter if Love doesn’t improve.

Also, Tannehill has been successful in a similar offense seeing as Arthur Smith–who helped revive the quarterback’s career in Tennessee–was the Titans’ tight ends coach when Matt LaFleur was the offensive coordinator in 2018.

In 2023, Tannehill will be playing the final season of a four-year, $118 million extension with the Titans. Many figure him to be considerably cheaper to sign in 2024 and beyond. Following the latest round of NFL Drafts, Tennessee selected quarterbacks Malik Willis and Will Levis.

In three consecutive seasons (2019-2022), Tannehill led the Titans to the playoffs. He also earned one Pro Bowl selection (2019). In his NFL career, he has finished 80-69 with nearly 34,000 passing yards, 214 touchdowns and 114 interceptions.

It would be fairly shocking to see the Packers give up on Jordan Love after one season (even if the Packers don’t finish with a stellar record).  They believe he could be the long-term answer and it may take more than one season to develop into that.  Rodgers went 6-10 in his first season starting.

One thing is for sure, the 2024 off-season will be huge for the future of this organization.
