Alasdair Gold has claimed that Chelsea might not be willing to sell Conor Gallagher to Tottenham Hotspur during the January transfer window

In the final few days of the transfer season, a number of publications (including The Times and The Guardian) stated that Tottenham remained interested in selling Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and bringing in Gallagher in his place.

However, that failed to materialise, with the Dane remaining at Spurs while the England international continues to ply his trade at Stamford Bridge.

Do Tottenham need Conor Gallagher?

It remains to be seen if Tottenham reignite their interest in the Chelsea player when the transfer window reopens in January, and it has been suggested by some publications over recent days that the Blues might be open to cash in on the midfielder.

This includes The Athletic, which asserted earlier this week that the West London club’s hierarchy values Gallagher more for his prospective sale price than for his services on the pitch.

Gold is unsure whether the 23-year-old will be in the store window because he has started every game for Mauricio Pochettino so far this season.

On his YouTube channel, the journalist stated: “Gallagher is the more challenging one. He now frequently competes for Chelsea. Why then are they planning to fire him in January? A lot relies on whether he is on the pitch or not.

Three months is a long time in football and a lot can happen between now and January. So, it is very much possible that Chelsea would be open to offers for Gallagher when the transfer window reopens, particularly since they would need to strengthen in other areas of the pitch and would want to comply with FFP.
