Conor Gallagher, a midfielder for Chelsea, is allegedly still a target for Tottenham Hotspur in January.

Gallagher was mentioned as a potential transfer target outside of Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer window despite playing each of Chelsea’s five competitive games so far this year.

The signings of Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia, and Lesley Ugochukwu appears to have prompted Chelsea to explore Gallagher’s exit.

According to a recent rumour, Tottenham made a last-minute offer to their London rivals to recruit the 23-year-old.

Ultimately, Gallagher remained a member of Mauricio Pochettino’s team when the transfer deadline passed without a deal being reached.

Even though Spurs’ late offer during the summer transfer window may have fallen through, they are reportedly still interested in signing Gallagher in the future.

When the transfer season reopens in January, the North London club might step up their pursuit, claims Football Insider.

Spurs are still looking to expand their alternatives in the middle of the park, even if Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr have formed a solid central midfield partnership in the early going of the season. This is especially true given the uncertainty surrounding Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s future.

It’s unclear whether the international from Denmark will leave in January after rumours of a transfer surfaced in the summer.

The report claims that Chelsea will consider selling Gallagher in the winter transfer window if they receive a suitable offer.

Any worries about Financial Fair Play would be alleviated by a hypothetical sale of the academy product because the player’s departure would be recorded as pure profit.

Gallagher’s immediate attention will be on Chelsea’s match against Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday, despite speculation over his future.

Chelsea will be hoping to get back on track with a victory on the South Coast after dropping to Nottingham Forest 1-0 before the break.
