Erik Lamela says he would welcome Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil with open arms if he was to return to Sevilla.

The Spaniard is currently recovering from a surgery he underwent in the summer. He is yet to play this season, and he was expected by many to be sold in the summer.

Lamela would adore a get-together if he ultimately decides to leave Tottenham.

In the summer of 2021, Tottenham acquired Bryan Gil from Sevilla, and Erik Lamela was a key player in making it happen.

Erik Lamela says he’d love it if Tottenham’s Bryan Gil moved to Sevilla

To acquire the gifted winger, one of Spain’s most intriguing possibilities at the time, Spurs paid the Spanish club a sum of £21.4 million (Guardian) and sent the Argentine in the opposite direction.

But Gil’s tenure at Tottenham has fallen short of expectations.

The Spanish athlete, who is known as a “superstar,” has played little over 1,060 minutes of football while wearing a Spurs jersey and has been loaned away twice. Normally, he would have departed in the summer, but a surgically necessary injury kept him in North London.

Although Gil’s future is still far from certain, Sevilla still wants to sign him. Lamela claims he would adore the transfer if it happened.

I would love to (see him back at Sevilla) because of the kind of person he is, he said to Estadio Deportivo.

He’s a fantastic friend, and we get along well.
