This is the season for transfer rumours. Some complete nonsense and some with a hint of truth, and one that’s been doing the rounds these past 24 hours is in my view in the complete nonsense category. According to Daily Record, Jordan Henderson is a transfer target for Brendan Rodgers. Really? Anyone who believes this fable is as deluded as the hacks who came up with the story. Which is one hundred percent fabricated fantasy.

Jordan Henderson as we know was one of those players who chased the cash on offer from Saudi Arabia, and now it seems he’s unhappy. Henderson of course played under Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool and the attention seeking SMSM have put together these two facts together and decided he’s a target for Celtic.

complete garbage. Nothing else, that’s what it is. They’ve added two and two and equalled 18. It’s complete made up nonsense. Henderson is a fine player, that’s not in doubt, but he’s not even on Celtic’s radar. Why do I know that? Well his reported salary of £700k a week is just one of the many stumbling blocks.

Henderson may well be looking for a way out of the Gulf State, but the EPL will be his most likely destination, not Celtic.

Justifying the story the Record quotes from Henderson’s biography: “Our relationship was good by the time Brendan left. “I needed his help. I needed him to give me opportunities and teach me tactically, and eventually he made me captain. For him to recognise the effort I had put in to be the player he wanted me to be, to acknowledge that I had grown in terms of my tactical awareness and to give me opportunities says a lot.
