The Whites are expected to be fairly busy in the January window as they look to add the right players to improve their squad for the promotion run-in in 2024. Leeds’ investment via the 49ers has come alongside major boardroom restructuring after the NFL franchise completed their buyout of the club back in the summer.

It was reported in 2023 that Leeds had their eyes on Aberdeen’s head of recruitment Jordan Miles, who has caught the eye of the Whites hierarchy of late. Now, Football Scotland are reporting that the 33-year-old is joining Leeds, but the agreement will see him move south of the border at the end of the January window.

Miles is going to remain at Pittodrie until the end of the month to continue overseeing their spending this month, with Leeds paying compensation to bring him to LS11.

Miles hasn’t been at Aberdeen long at all, coming from West Ham to the Scottish Premiership club back in the summer of 2023. Leeds did hope that Miles would be at the club in time for the January window, but that hasn’t been the case. Gretar Steinsson and Nick Hammond are the two names heading up transfer discussions in the meantime for Leeds and Daniel Farke.

Miles is still very early into his career after scouting experience at Ipswich Town and Derby County, before moving to West Ham and working his way into a scouting role. However, what he’s done already at these clubs has clearly impressed the 49ers enough to shape their recruitment structure around him. The club are making the right moves to ensure that they have a system in place that doesn’t rely on one man calling the shots, which was a huge contributor for our relegation.
