he online outlet, shared by Fabrizio Romano previously, has insisted that they would be stunned if the Bears sign more than three players before the end of the month. Philippe Clement is said to want a “proper forward” signed, with a triple transfer seemingly on the cards, with Fabio Silva already arriving on loan from Wolves.
Writing in their latest update on Patreon [7 January], the Fourth Official shared: “Rangers are linked with a lot of strikers and it’s no surprise given Clement wants a proper forward in this month. “However, don’t believe every rumour you hear because atleast one of the rumours out there is agent-driven.
“I would be stunned if Rangers do go on to sign more than two-three this window and the hope is that it will be quality over quantity. Bonus would also be if Rangers can shift some players out this window like Sam Lammers. Easier said than done obviously.”
It is already a very different message than the summer, where Michael Beale appeared to throw a lot at the wall and hope that something would stick. The likes of Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers have failed so far, apart from one or two glimpses, but Rangers need consistent stars to perform domestically and in Europe.
It is unclear if this update means three players after Silva, or two more on top of him to keep arrivals to a minimum and only add strength to Clement. The Belgian has already been linked with plenty of players from his past at Ibrox, but no concrete movement has emerged as of yet in the past week.
This is certainly something to watch though, with quality at left-back, in midfield and the final third could be the difference between winning and losing those all-important pieces of silverware. All eyes are on the revolving doors of Ibrox and Auchenhowie.
