Atletico Madrid remain interested in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, as the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder faces an uncertain future ahead of the January transfer window.

That’s according to a report from Sport Mediaset in Italy, who note that Juventus are also considering a move for the 28-year-old.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is certainly a candidate to leave Tottenham Hotspur in January. He has been an important player for Spurs. However, everything changed under Ange Postecoglou. Postecoglou tends to use both Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr in the middle of the park. Meanwhile, Hojbjerg has not started a Premier League match this season, coming off the bench five times so far.

Atletico Madrid is still interested in Hojbjerg

There is interest in the former Southampton man. Sport Mediaset reported that Juventus wants Hojbjerg. And it has been suggested that Atletico Madrid’s interest has gone nowhere after eyeing the Dane this summer.

Tottenham’s problem is that they don’t have much depth in midfield. And next year’s Africa Cup of Nations will give Postecoglou a real headache.

Bissouma and Sarr are expected to be absent for some time in the new year. So selling Hojbjerg might not be ideal before the second half of the season.

However, Tottenham will have their own goals in January. And if Hojbjerg does not feature regularly in the first half of the season, the chance to earn a decent sum of money from him could appeal to Spurs.

Hojbjerg was “brilliant” at times. But he never really convinced all Tottenham fans. So perhaps now is the time for all parties to reach an agreement.
