Andy Walker says he is ‘amazed’ by what he’s hearing about Celtic star Kyogo Furuhashi

Both positive and negative news about Kyogo Furuhashi, and depends on which way you look at it.

From Celtic’s perspective, he isn’t going to go on international duty with Japan to take part in the forthcoming AFC Asian Cup games.

But, on the other hand, it’s a bitter blow for the player himself because he deserves to represent his country on such a big stage.

Andy Walker is certainly ‘amazed’ that Kyogo Furuhashi won’t be going away on international duty, as he told Go Radio.

It was only recently that the 28-year-old showcased to the world what he is all about with an absolute stunner against Rangers, in the end, it proved to be the winning goal.

But Andy Walker questioned just what frame of mind this will leave Kyogo Furuhashi in and whether he is the type to want to prove people wrong.

You feel that he will surely be hurting at the snub, and at the end of it all, Celtic will be the ones who will benefit because he will just let it out on the opposition.

Kyogo Furuhashi snubbed by Japan

“Well, I am amazed he isn’t going on international duty,” said Walker. “But that’s obviously a big bonus for Celtic.

“His goal, we spoke about it last week, the fact that he always seems to score on the big occasion, especially against Rangers and that goal was right out of the top draw.

“I am just wondering how he will go about this snub from the international team. He is clearly a guy with a lot of ability. He is scoring big goals for Celtic. He obviously wants to play international football.

“I wonder if he will see it as a chance ‘I will show them what they are missing’ and try to build up his goal tally.”

Kyogo Furuhashi leaving his best form until last

Yes, Celtic fans might have expected more goals from Kyogo at this stage of the season – he currently has eight from 22 Scottish Premiership matches – but he has delivered in the big games.

That’s why Chris Sutton was shutting down Kris Boyd when he was failing to acknowledge Kyogo’s brilliance again, you feel he would have been humbled by now following that goal against Rangers.

But knowing what the quick-thinking forward is capable of, the rest of Scotland will witness the class of Kyogo during the crunch moments of this season.

And everyone knows, if he turns up and delivers the goods, then the title is only heading in one direction.
