Jamie Carragher has opened up about how strong a relationship he has with Nottingham Forest head coach Steve Cooper. The Sky Sports pundit was asked about Premier League managers and he is a fan of Cooper.
The famous expert discussed life analysis for Sky Sports. He was asked about everything going on behind the scenes and the discussion turned to whether he knew about the selected teams before the official announcement.
Carragher has no interest in keeping this kind of information private. However, he maintains that he has a pretty strong relationship due to head coach Forest Cooper coaching his son James.
He told the Covering Liverpool podcast:
“I’m close to some of the managers. Like Steve Cooper at Forest, but that’s just because he coached James at Liverpool, so I can’t go back and say, ‘Oh, I’m not talking.’
“I talk to him from time to time and if Forest are on Monday Night Football I might try to contact him. It’s not about his team selection, to be honest, I don’t care about that but to try to get a general idea, what the atmosphere around the venue will be like before the match how. “Sometimes there will be a new contract that I just want to discuss with him before the show, but I will never ask about his team.”
Carragher showed he has a good relationship with Forest head coach Cooper
This is another proof that Cooper is a very good man in the world of football. He seems like the type of person who is willing to give anyone a little bit of his time and he always speaks well to the press.
Cooper was a coach at Liverpool’s academy long before coming to Forest. It was there that he coached James Carragher, who is now trying to make a name for himself at Wigan in League One.
Forest are at an advantage with Cooper at the helm. Having added 13 more players to the squad this summer, he is now working to find a winning formula that can help Forest progress.
Carragher has praised Forest since their return to the Premier League. This can sometimes make him appear to have sympathy for Forest and that would make sense given his statements about Cooper.
