Nottingham Forest star Anthony Elanga has confirmed that he’s ready to go if he’s asked to start for Sweden tonight. Janne Andersson’s team face Moldova in a friendly later this evening.

The 21-year-old hasn’t started for his country since November 2022. That came during a 2-1 win over Mexico when he played for 69 minutes and he will be desperate to impress.

Elanga will feel that he’s done enough with Forest this season to earn a chance to start. He scored the team’s winning goal at Chelsea earlier in the season and also claimed an assist against Arsenal.

Forest player Elanga ready to go for Sweden

The youngster won’t feel as though he’s truly shown Sweden what he’s all about just yet. As a result, he will be champing at the bit to get going for his country.

Elanga has been interviewed by the Swedish media. The Forest player told Fotboll Skanalen: “I’m ready. We’ll see what Janne wants. I want to take the chance and score. When I do get the opportunity to play, I will take the chance.”

Sweden face Moldova tonight looking to get into their stride ahead of a big qualifier coming up. They face Belgium on Monday and are in desperate need of a victory.

Elanga wants to prove a point

The player has only actually started two Premier League games for Forest so far this season. As the season progresses he will want to become a more permanent fixture in the side and the same goes for his game time with Sweden.

It can’t be easy for a player who works so hard to be out of the reckoning. As a result, he will be desperate to get more starts for club and country so that he can truly show what he’s capable of.

Forest have signed a very useful player in Elanga. At £15 million, he represents a bit of a steal and there will be more to come from the talented youngster before this season is over.
