Tottenham entertain Sheffield United on Saturday seeking to maintain their unbeaten league start

Tottenham will definitely be without three first team players when they host Sheffield United after the international break. Rodrigo Bentancur, Ryan Sessegnon and Bryan Gil have yet to feature so far this season.

Influential midfielder Bentancur is not expected to return to action until November as he continues his recovery from a serious knee injury. Bentancur is thought to be working his way back to fitness. Winger Gil and left-back Sessegnon have undergone groin and hamstring surgery respectively.

It remains unclear whether Gio Lo Celso will be fit to face United. The midfielder sustained a leg muscle injury in the recent Carabao Cup loss at Fulham.

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou said: “He’s got a quad strain. That’s why we took him off at half time. It’s nothing too serious. We’ve got the break coming up so hopefully not too long after that.”

Postecoglou will be keeping his fingers crossed that Cristian Romero and James Maddison return from international duty unscathed. There were fears that Romero picked up a knock in Argentina’s clash against against Ecuador last week.

Spurs have made a strong start to the season. Postecoglou’s men sit second in the standings after collecting 10 points from four matches. Their wins in the opening month of the campaign came against Bournemouth, Manchester United and Burnley.

On Saturday, the Blades will go to the capital with the intention of building on the point they earned against Everton. In the two teams’ most recent match, which took place in March’s FA Cup fifth round, United prevailed at Bramall Lane thanks to a brilliant solo goal by Iliman Ndiaye.
