The Denver Broncos have been arguably one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL during the 2023 season thus far, with new head coach Sean Payton struggling to figure out how to get this storied franchise back on track after a disastrous 2022 campaign.
With the NFL trade deadline taking place on Halloween, the Broncos were expected to be one of the more active teams in the league, as there had been rumors floating around that some of the team’s best players were available in trade talks.
Surprisingly enough, the Broncos chose not to do anything before the trade deadline on Tuesday, with some believing that the win over the division-rival Kansas City Chiefs this past weekend was enough to prove that this squad can be salvaged, even if it doesn’t show significant results until next season.
After the trade deadline came and went on Tuesday afternoon, James Palmer of NFL Network talked about why the Broncos chose to stand pat rather than blowing things up and starting from scratch.
Even though the Broncos are coming off their third win of the season and second straight victory, the 2023 campaign is more than likely a lost cause for Denver, especially with the Chiefs so far ahead in the AFC West standings with a record of 6-2.
It’ll be interesting to see if the Broncos can continue to make some progress this season after getting the best of Patrick Mahomes and company, with some favorable games left on the schedule and some opportunities to get a few more wins.
