Steven Alzate could still join Everton on transfer deadline day.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference today, Roberto De Zerbi admitted the midfielder could still leave Brighton after learning he was ready for a transfer.

Journalist Pipe Sierra reported yesterday that the 24-year-old is attracting interest from Everton and Wolves, as his departure from the South Coast is considered ‘imminent’.

Alzate joined the Seagulls from Leyton Orient in 2017 but made just 43 appearances in the Premier League, but the only goal in Brighton’s win over Liverpool to be remembered by many was to seal their first win at Anfield. in Premier League history.

The Colombia international spent last season on loan at Belgian side Standard Liege, where he scored three goals and provided five assists in 27 appearances.

Can Everton still bring in Steven Alzate?
Alzate found himself in a very low ranking after returning from Belgium and became redundant on demand as he is still out of action this season.

Speaking today, according to Sussex World, De Zerbi said:
“Unfortunately, it is very difficult to have more than two players in each position. I talked to him this morning and last week. We will be looking at the transfer market in the next hour and then I can give you an answer.

“But if he stays, I won’t forget him. We’re going to play a lot of games and I think Alzate can be important in the season.

While Everton and Wolves both want to keep Alzate in the Premier League, it is reported that Sevilla and Fiorentina are also monitoring the midfielder.

With only about two hours left until the end of the summer transfer window, the Toffees are expected to act very quickly to bring in Alzate. Things look to have calmed down at Merseyside but they could still make a last-ditch effort to bring in the player to bolster their squad.
