The former Parkhead man was injured for a period but has returned with a bang.

Jota is back amongst the goals for Al-Ittihad as the former Celtic star sends a pointed reminder to the Saudi side.

It’s been a torrid time of it in the Middle East for the £25million man who left Parkhead in the summer for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side but saw the influx of high-profile stars such as Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante and Fabinho make it difficult for him to make the cut with a restriction on the number of foreign players able to be registered for the Saudi Pro League. It means Jota can only feature in AFC Champions League action, and was further hampered by injury.

But he turned out in a friendly on Sunday night for the Tigers, seeing off Al-Wahda by one goal to nil. He scored the winner and impressed fans amid reports Tottenham Hotspur and former boss Ange Postecoglou could look to offer the 24-year-old a path out of Jeddah with mounting concerns he could still have his Ittihad deal terminated.

The Portuguese managed a full 90 minutes as he looks to show Nuno he is fit and available.
