Lucas Digne will remain at Aston Villa, according to Unai Emery, despite the fact that a number of clubs have expressed interest in him this summer.

Prior to the second leg of the Europa Conference League play-off on Thursday night at Villa Park, Digne has started each of Villa’s first four games of the new season. On last Wednesday, he contributed three assists in the first leg. He also stood out in the club’s Premier League wins over Everton and Burnley.

Due to an injury, Alex Moreno was unavailable to play at the beginning of the season and missed the entire preseason. Digne was given the chance to play his way into shape under Emery as a result.

This summer, the 30-year-old attracted interest from a number of clubs, including OGC Nice and clubs in Italy. The France international was also coveted by Saudi club Al-Hilal, but he won’t be leaving Villa Park today or later this month.

Lucas Digne, he’s had a very good pre-season and I’m very, very pleased with him,” Emery confirmed. “I think he is very important to the team and now I can say that he will be with us. .”

Before the new season, Digne requested some new jerseys and the club responded to his wish by swapping the number 27 for the number 12. He played in France, Italy and Spain, while he played 23 Champions League appearances during seasons at Lille, Paris Saint-Germain, Rome and Barcelona. His experience will also be crucial in Villa’s Europa Conference League campaign this season.
