WHAT HAPPENED? The former Arsenal star claimed Szoboszlai’s opener against Aston Villa should have been disallowed as he felt Mohamed Salah was offside and blocked Emiliano Martinez’s view as the midfielder fired home. He also suggested that PGMOL boss Howard Webb should apologize to Villa, as he did when he denied Wolves a penalty against Manchester United in the opening week of the season.
Wright stated: “What we observed is that Mo Salah is impeding Emi Martinez’s line of view, therefore Howard Webb is definitely going to have to make another phone call this week at some point because that is offside and that is interfering with Emi Martinez. I’ve lost my understanding.
THE BIGGER PICTURE: After Szoboszlai scored the game’s first goal in the third minute, Matty Cash’s own goal gave the Reds a 2-0 advantage before Mohamed Salah scored the game’s third and final goal in the 55th minute to secure a crucial victory for his team.
WHAT WILL LIVERPOOL DO NEXT? After the international break, Jurgen Klopp’s team will play Wolves in a Premier League match on September 16.
