Deion Sanders and his staff saw multiple transfers on offense commit to Colorado over the course of last weekend. It was the first half of a movement for the Buffs. This weekend, the focus was on the other side of the ball. Former Alabama defensive lineman Anquin Barnes Jr. announced his intentions to join the Buffaloes on Sunday night.

A four-star recruit out of Robert E. Lee High School in Montgomery, Ala., the 6-foot-4, 315-pound Barnes was a member of Alabama’s top-ranked 2021 recruiting class. Colorado defensive coordinator Charles Kelly, who was with the Crimson Tide in 2021, was the lead recruiter for Barnes according to 247Sports. Barnes saw limited action in his two seasons with the Crimson Tide. He’ll have two years of eligibility remaining with the Buffaloes.

Barnes is the 15th transfer player to join the Buffaloes for 2024. Earlier on Sunday, Colorado received commitments from LSU defensive end Quency Wiggins and Liberty safety Preston Hodge. Of the 15 transfers joining the Buffaloes in 2024, six, including Barnes and Quency, hail from Southeastern Conference schools.
