Le Petit Lilois reports that Demarai Grey, an attacking midfielder for Everton, passed his medical on transfer deadline day in Lille but decided not to leave the team.

On Saturday, August 2, a French media site reported that the Toffees had abruptly decided to back out of the agreement.

This prohibited the eight-time league champions from signing the Jamaican international.

Iwobi’s departure keeps Grey

There’s a potential that the Toffees’ decision to keep Grey at Goodison Park was influenced by Alex Iwobi’s transfer to Fulham.

The Nigerian’s exit plans became public in the last few days of the window, making it obvious that he had his sights set on getting out.

It would be interesting to see if Grey decides to relocate to Saudi Arabia while their window is still open or if he decides to stay at Goodison Park.

Sean Dyche does not really seem to be rating the 27-year-old so if he’s happy with the options he’s got, he could ask the club to cash in.

They can still bring in free agents so there could be a few targets Dyche has on his mind in case Gray leaves as well as they could be short in that area of the pitch.

In other Everton news, a club chief had revealed his plans to sign a first-team Toffees player imminently ahead of the deadline.
