Within two days of Georgia’s Brock Vandagriff entering, the No. 17 overall prospect committed to Kentucky.Also this week, a pair of former Power Five starters — Texas Tech’s Tyler Shough (Louisville) and Indiana’s Brendan Sorsby (Cincinnati) — came off the board.

Still, there are plenty of other big fish left in the transfer portal sea at the sport’s most important position.On the high school football recruiting level, quarterback commitments set off a chain of roster-effective reactions. More now than ever before, this is the case with QB movement in the college football transfer portal — exemplified Tuesday by Brock Vandagriff, Tyler Shough and Brendan Sorsby announcing their decisions.

Usually, the phrase “quarterback dominoes” in college football is associated with high school recruiting. It’s a common phenomenon on that level. One quarterback commitment can set off several others. Most schools only take one quarterback a cycle, and the spots can fill up fast. Take it from a former No. 1 overall recruit, with Quinn Ewers of Texas telling 247Sports earlier this year: “When a big-time quarterback is committed somewhere, it definitely changes other peoples’ minds on where they want to go.”
