The Bees are expected to pay £35m for a player also tracked by west London rivals Chelsea.

Archie Grey, a Leeds teen, appears to have gone to Brentford; the transfer is said to be worth approximately £35 million. According to Standard Sport, Chelsea was a big fan of the adaptable midfield player, while Tottenham and Arsenal have also been connected to him.

But it is Brentford who are now closing in on a huge summer signing as talks over finalising an agreement with Championship side Leeds continue. Personal terms have been agreed and now a medical will be booked.

The 18-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough season at boyhood club Leeds last season, making 52 appearances across right-back and midfield.

Gray, who has represented England at every age group level, was subsequently named Championship young player of the year for the 2023-24 season.

Reports have suggested that Leeds need to sell after failing to seal promotion back to the Premier League. The club missed out on automatic promotion, finishing third behind Leicester and Ipswich, and then lost the play-off final to Southampton.
