Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jack Grealish have withdrawn from the England squad due to injury, it has been announced.

The Liverpool defender and Manchester City forward was called up by Gareth Southgate for the September international squad last week.

They will face Ukraine in Euro 2024 qualifying and Scotland in a friendly match celebrating the 150th anniversary of the first international match.

But in a statement on Tuesday night, it was confirmed that both were unavailable:

Both were present at St. George’s Park on Monday but later withdrew from the Three Lions team after a pre-camp injury check.

Except for Kieran Trippier, who will come on Wednesday due to a personal commitment, all other players are scheduled to arrive.

No more call-ups are anticipated.

Alexander-Arnold, who appeared to have a hamstring problem, had to be replaced after 71 minutes of Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over Aston Villa on Sunday.

Speaking after the game, Jurgen Klopp said of the injury:

“‘Not too bad’ is his opinion [about Alexander-Arnold], but obviously we have to wait for the scan results and we’ll know more.”

Fortunately for Southgate, he was still able to summon two excellent right-backs, Kyle Walker and Trippier, but now he has missed the opportunity to try again with the Reds vice-captain in midfield.

As for Grealish, the 27-year-old missed City’s 1-5 loss to Fulham because of a thigh injury, and reserve coach Juanma Lillo admitted at the time he was not fit to play in the Premier League. Older brother.

The Three Lions have no shortage of attacking options, with Bukayo Saka, Marcus Rashford and Phil Foden vying for a spot in the starting lineup.
