Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Tottenham Hotspur, appears to have a strategy for midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, according to information provided by journalist Paul Brown.

How did Giovani Lo Celso fare?

Lo Celso joined Tottenham on a permanent basis from Real Betis under Jose Mourinho in January 2020. Since since, his Spurs career has been inconsistent.

The Argentine midfielder, who won a World Cup medal with his nation in Qatar last year, has spent time on loan with Villarreal twice. During the 21/22 and 22/23 seasons, he was a regular for the club.

There were rumours that Lo Celso would have been sold during the summer transfer window, as the South American’s former team Betis even expressed a genuine interest in bringing him back to Spain.

However, as he stated earlier in the summer, the midfielder is a favourite of new Spurs manager Postecoglou. When questioned about rumours in La Liga that suggested he would make a comeback, Postecoglou responded as follows:

You can simply ask me; you don’t need to travel to Spain. Yes, I enjoy Gio. He complements how we play. He appears to like working with us, and I appreciate working with him.

Prior to a recent injury, the 27-year-old began to appear more frequently under Postecoglou, playing 16 minutes in the league before last week’s Carabao Cup second-round match against Fulham (WhoScored).

Lo Celso’s fortunes appear to be changing as reporter Brown tells GiveMeSport that the midfielder is expected to continue to play a significant role in Tottenham’s future ambitions.

On deadline day, Brown remarked, “Yeah, there’s been some interest in Spurs’ players.

“I am aware that Lo Celso was sought after by a number of clubs, but it appears that he will remain in the area. Postecoglou said that even though he has a minor injury, he is now part of the squad and is a very important player in it.

I believe he will play this season and stay since he seems to be seen as a kind of backup or substitution option for Maddison in those parts of the field.

What was mentioned regarding Giovani Lo Celso?

Lo Celso seems to have an opportunity to revive his Spurs career after underwhelming in recent campaigns.

The Argentine’s performances in a Lilywhites jersey while he wasn’t on loan drew criticism from the media, including Spurs analyst John Wenham, who once referred to him as a “passenger” while Nuno Espirito Santo was in charge.

After Lo Celso’s performance against Man United, Wenham told Football Insider, “One player I really want to talk about is Lo Celso.”

He entered the game against Man United, which was yet another perplexing move by Nuno.

“Ndombele was performing better than he had in the past. He chose at random to invite Lo Celso in.

“He was terrible and accomplished nothing. Poor set pieces, incomplete passes, and he was a complete passenger.

He gave again another terrible performance. He must accomplish everything under Conte to persuade him that he deserves to be retained. Conte won’t put up with fools.

  1. Lo Celso may now have a chance to improve under Postecoglou after some of his previous performances.
