The Premier League season is done, and both Liverpool and Tottenham have their reasons to be disappointed.

Virgil ‘s side were once in contention to win the quadruple, but terrible results in April saw them miss out on the Premier League, Europa League and the FA Cup.

Tottenham on the other hand, had top-four in their sights and it looked easily achievable. However, just two wins in their last seven games meant they finished fifth.

The focus now for many players has turned to the European Championships in Germany, which is set to begin in the middle of June.

Van Dijk is the captain of the Dutch national team, and he will be a guaranteed starter.

Alongside the Liverpool skipper, there is a chance Tottenham’s Van de Ven will get the nod to start at the back after he was called up by Ronald Koeman on Wednesday.

The Tottenham defender took to Instagram to celebrate the big news after it was announced.

“A boy’s dream,” he wrote.

His international skipper, Van Dijk, replied with an orange heart emoji.

Van de Ven could play in a different position at the Euros

Van de Ven has only played two games for the Netherlands. Both of them were substitute appearances.

The first was a 10-minute cameo against France at centre-back in October, while the second came against Greece just a few days later – he played at left-back then.

The Netherlands have Van Dijk, Stefan de Vrij, de light , Nathan Ake and Daley Blind in their squad – all of them can play in the heart of defence.

That could force Van de Ven to play at left-back or left-wing-back instead of his natural centre-half position.

The £43 million () Dutchman can definitely play there – he did so for Tottenham in the final two games of the Premier League against Manchester City and Sheffield United.
