Mo Kudus sent a warning to Julen Lopetegui when asked about cooperating with the new West Ham coach next season.
Every now and then a player comes along and fans can see he’s special from the first time he steps on the field.
And this is very true in the case of Mohammed Kudus at West Ham.
The Ghana star was one of West Ham’s standout players last season, breaking dribbling records and scoring unforgettable goals along the way.
But with great performances inevitably come flocks of vultures above the London Stadium.
As West Ham fans have well known over the years.
If media rumors are to be believed, West Ham’s young star has attracted interest this summer.
This is not surprising after an excellent first season in the Premier League.
Kudus is said to have an £85m release clause at West Ham.
It was stated that this would not be operational until next summer.
But it was recently said that this was not the case and it has, in fact, worked so far.
Hammers News contacted West Ham’s main spokesman for clarification.
But we were met with – rather worryingly – radio silence.
The spokesman was reassured last week, however, when Hammers News exclusively reported that West Ham had optimistically claimed that Saudi clubs linked to Kudus “cannot afford it”.
Kudus warned Lopetegui when asked about the new West Ham manager.
West Ham fans are probably not the only ones hoping that Kudus stays next season.
New head coach Julen Lopetegui hopes to shape his new team around Kudus while getting the most out of the 23-year-old.
There seems to be only one way to do this, according to the man himself.
Kudus warned Lopetegui when asked about cooperation with the new West Ham coach.
The West Ham starlet is currently back in his homeland before returning to pre-season training next week.
The Hammers report for their first training session under Lopetegui on Wednesday.
But Kudus played two World Cup qualifiers for Ghana after the season ended so he will likely be out for at least another week.
West Ham’s most loved footballer attended an awards ceremony reserved for Ghana’s biggest stars.
He held the gong and scored the best goal of the season for Ghana.
And in the interview after receiving the award, he was asked about his collaboration with Lopetegui.
Kudus told Lopetegui he would do his best to adapt to any systemic changes at West Ham.
‘I’m not going to change my style,’ says Hammers star man.
But he warned the Spaniard not to try to change him or his style of play as it would be a waste of time.
“It’s very difficult to get used to each ‘new manager’s’ system every time (there’s a change),” said Kudus.
“Even if that means playing with the club team and then with the national team, with different coaches, so that’s part of our job, being flexible to adapt to different types of coaches is the main key that you have to always aim to be ready.
“Personally, no matter which coach comes in, my style of play will always be the same, you know.
“I will have to do what the coach wants and give the team the results they want, but I will still be me and the things you see me do will still be the same, just under the guidance of a different coach.
